How to trigger automations after contacts click links in an email

In this article, we'll learn how to automate specific actions when contacts click links in your emails, enabling segmentation and targeted marketing.

What you'll need:

a systeme.io account
an email containing at least one link



Go to "Menu" >> "Automations" >> "Rules" to create a new automation rule.

Choose the "Email link clicked" trigger so that your automation can be triggered when a contact clicks on the link in your email.



Select the email containing the link(s) to which you want to apply this automation.



Choose a link from the list of links available on your email for which you want to apply an automation rule.



You can then apply an action to be executed when a contact clicks on the link in your email. To learn how automation rules work, click here.



Go to "Menu" >> "Automations" >> "Workflows" to create a new workflow.

Choose the "Email link clicked" trigger, then select the email containing the link.



Create a workflow decision for "Email clicked".



Important: It isn't currently possible to select a specific link to use in your workflows as it is for simple automation rules described in the first part.

Note: This feature lets you track and segment contacts by the links they click, assign tags, and launch customized campaigns or personalized promotions based on their preferences.

With this feature, email targeting and marketing become more customized and effective.
