How to trigger automations when a course, module or lecture is completed

In this article, we're going to look at how to trigger automations when a student completes a course, module, or lecture.

What you'll need:
a systeme.io account
a course containing at least one module and one lecture

1. Using the "Course completed" trigger:

For automation rules:

Go to "Menu" >> "Automations" >> "Rules" to create a new automation rule.

Choose the "Course completed" trigger, then select the course to which you want to apply this automation when a student completes his/her course.

For workflows:

Go to "Menu" >> "Automations" >> "Workflows" to create a new workflow.

Choose the "Course completed" trigger, then select the course for which you want to trigger workflow actions.

2. Using the "Module completed" trigger:

For automation rules:

Go to "Menu" >> "Automations" >> "Rules" to create a new automation rule.

Choose the "Module completed" trigger for your rule:

When you only select a course for your rule: the action will be triggered when any module of the selected course is completed.
When you select a course and a module for your rule: the action will be triggered when a specific module of the selected course is completed.

For workflows:

Go to "Menu" >> "Automations" >> "Workflows" to create a new workflow.

Choose the "Module completed" trigger, then select the course to which you want to trigger workflow actions.



Note: It's important to know that this workflow will be triggered when any module of the selected course has been completed, as it is not currently possible to select a specific module in a workflow.

3. Using the "Lecture completed" trigger:

For automation rules:

Go to "Menu" >> "Automations" >> "Rules" to create a new automation rule.

Choose the "Lecture completed" trigger for your rule:

When you only select a course for your rule: the action will be triggered when any lecture of the selected course is completed.
When you select a course and a module for your rule: the action will be triggered when any lecture of the selected module is completed.
When you select a course, a module, and a lecture for your rule: the action will be triggered when the lecture is completed.

For workflows:

Go to "Menu" >> "Automations" >> "Workflows" to create a new workflow.

Choose the "Lecture completed" trigger, then select the course to which you want to trigger workflow actions.



Note: It's very important to know that this workflow will be triggered when any lecture of the selected course has been marked as completed, as it is not currently possible in a workflow to select a particular module or lecture
